My name is Margaret Chin. I was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and grew up in Petaling Jaya, a suburb of Kuala Lumpur. After completing my secondary school education, I went to the United States and studied at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia. I graduated from Oglethorpe University in 1987 with a BBA in Accounting, magna cum laude. After I returned to Malaysia, I worked at two multinational accounting firms in Kuala Lumpur.
While at work one day, I felt an overwheming wish to devote my life to the Divine that was accompanied by an inner knowing that I had a duty to serve the Divine by serving humanity. Not long later, I heard my calling—it was a calling to teach. A few weeks after I heard my calling, I had a mystical experience that supported the calling that I had heard. I did not know what I was supposed to teach, but I knew that continuing to work in a multinational accounting firm was not going to help me figure out what I was supposed to teach. I resigned from my job and have never looked back.
Little by little, my soul revealed to me not only my life’s path, but also a spiritual path. I have dedicated the past thirty plus years of my life to understanding our spiritual nature and the spiritual path that my soul had revealed to me through experiential learning, book learning, deep contemplation, and thorough analysis. During this period, I took a detour and studied psychology at Western University (University of Western Ontario), in London, Ontario, Canada and my alma mater. I am a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.
In 2025, I created The Spirituality Discourse website to share what I know about our spiritual nature, in particular our soul’s consciousness. I create all the content on The Spirituality Discourse website. In addition to the work that I do here at The Spirituality Discourse, I am writing a memoir about my own spiritual journey with the working title, Fire in the Heart: A Memoir on Love and Beauty.
I live in Penang, Malaysia where I get to watch some of the most beautiful, breathtaking sunsets and sunrises from my home.
